This is an interesting factual book about the pirate myths and legends. Each double page layout starts with a myth or fact. Then an example and some artwork (either from movies, old pirate books, or current illustrations) are included. The next page has a "verdict" that tells whether the myth/ legend could have been true and further explanation is given. Modern pirates are also addressed also. There is a glossary and index along with "for further information." There is an AR test for this book. It would be interesting to use with any treasure story or in world geography/history classes or even current events courses.
