MY SPECIAL DAY AT THIRD STREET SCHOOL

Author (last name first):
Bunting,Eve

Publisher, Date of Publication:
Boyds Mills Press/2004
Grade Level/ or Age Level:
K-3
Classification:
Fiction

A class looks forward to meeting an author named Amanda Drake. The book has lots of multicultural touches with the teacher and some students in a racial minority. The class decorates an already colorful room full of banners, posters, and other signs  of celebration for the author. The story unfolds with a rhyming verse on each page; the combination of children well prepared by reading and enthusiastic about the author in concert with a writer, who appears to love visiting children, creates a feel good story. While this story may not merit repeated readings, it does deliver the message that author visits can be fun.
