This story begins in fantasy and in Kansas. It is about a boy named Henry who is now twelve and his friend Zeke. It is about baseball and pitching and enjoying being a kid. It is also about family and the importance of family bonds. Of particular importance to the story is a wall of cabinets. Each cabinet has a door, and behind each door is a world. The worlds are linked both by the people passing through the doors and by the family history and the regional history of the world in that door.
This book reminds this reviewer of "The Hobbit", and "The Lord of the Rings"because of the magic and different forms of people. In this book there are faeries who are human-like, but they are not human.
The story concerns the struggle between good and evil. Through much of the book evil seems to hold the upper hand. Students who like adventure and daring as well as travel into new lands will like this book.
