The story is about a little boy who walks though a forest where people have said a monster lives there. They say he is 10 feet tall with fangs and he changes colors. They boy knows there are bears, wolves, and snakes in the forest but no monsters. As he is walking home one day through the forest, the monster comes up behind him, but he is not scared of it. Each time the monster tries to scare him, the little boy tells him he is not afraid and the monster gets smaller and smaller until he is the size of a cat. He begs the little boy to not leave him in the forest and to take him home. The boy agrees and the monster asks him to believe in him just a little bit and the boy says ok just a little. When you first look at the pictures in the book, it is not too inviting. Once you start reading the story, it is really cute. I think this would be a good book to read to teach about fear.
